One lucky person from west London could win £25,000 through a partnership between several councils and a not-for-profit organisation.
Sixteen London authorities including Brent, Harrow, Ealing, Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, City of Westminster, and Hounslow have teamed up with Bacs Payment Schemes Limited (Bacs), the not-for-profit organisation behind Direct Debit in the UK, to offer council taxpayers the chance to win the windfall.
To be in with a chance of winning the money, residents must register to pay their council tax bill by Direct Debit before 5pm on July 17, either by returning a completed Direct Debit Instruction form by post, signing-up to Direct Debit online.
People who already pay their council tax by Direct Debit will automatically be entered into the prize draw.
Dawneth Perry, Bacs’ local authority sector specialist, said: “The campaign is now entering its sixth year and has proved hugely successful since its launch in 2010, helping to deliver cost savings in excess of £2m for participating local authorities over that time.
“Paying by Direct Debit can save people time and hassle, help with budgeting and also gives peace of mind that payments won’t be missed.”
