A gym in Hounslow is on the hunt to find the borough's unsung female sports heroes as part of a new awards scheme.
The Gym London Hounslow, at The Blenheim Centre in Prince Regent Road, is searching for the most inspirational female sports and fitness role model to win a lifelong membership, as part of raising the profile of women in sport.
The Gym Group, which has also has sites in other parts of west London including Alperton, Ealing, North Harrow and Wembley, has launched the Be A Game Changer Awards to recognise women who dedicate their time to encouraging others to enjoy the benefits of staying active and healthy.
Carina Botha, general manager of The Gym London Hounslow and personal traine0r, said: “Sport and exercise can be a daunting environment, not only for newcomers but also those women who feel they don’t quite fit the mould or have the confidence to wear the right kit.
"We know how powerful role models can be in providing inspiration to friends and the local community to instigate a more physically active lifestyle.
"Sometimes all it takes is a little belief and encouragement for someone to adopt a healthier lifestyle, reach their goal weight or enjoy a new sport.
"This is why we want to recognise the work of our unsung heroes and heroines living in the City.
"Whatever your story, we want to hear from you.”
It can be a coach at a local sports club who has given up her time to get more women into sport or someone who has launched a fitness class to help women exercise, lose weight, tone up and grow in confidence.
The Gym Group is searching nationwide and each local award winner will be shortlisted to be in with the chance of being crowned 'The Game Changer'.
People in Hounslow are being asked to make their nomination in 150 words explaining why the person they have put forward is deserving of the award. The overall winner will recive a free year's membership.
