A man accused of assaulting MP George Galloway in Notting Hill has pleaded not guilty.

Neil Masterson, of Campden Hill, Kensington, denied assaulting the controversial Respect MP on Friday (August 29) evening as he posed for photographs in Golborne Road .

Mr Galloway is said to have a broken jaw, a broken rib and severe bruising to his face and head.

Mr Masterson, 39, appeared at Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court this afternoon and denied the religiously aggravated common assault of the politician.

It is not known at this time whether Mr Masterson has denied or admitted two other charges of assault by beating of Mostafa Maarouf at the same time and possession of cannabis. Bail is being decided at the moment.
