There are a million good reasons to attend two free events in Heston and Cranford this weekend.

As well as enjoying free pizza, live music and other entertainment, you can learn about plans to spend a £1 million Lottery windfall in Heston West.

The money was promised back in 2011 after it emerged the ward, on the borders of Heston and Cranford, was one of the country's big losers when it came to Lottery funding.

A panel was set up to decide how best to spend the cash from the Big Local initiative, and it is now ready to reveal who will benefit.

Members of the Heston West Community Partnership (HWCP) want as many people as possible to attend meetings this Friday and Saturday so they can have their say on the proposals.

They hope to lure as big an audience as possible by offering free pizza, popcorn and entertainment.

* This Friday (November 7) there will be live music, entertainment and free pizza at Berkeley School, in Cranford Lane, Heston, from 6pm-8pm.

* On Saturday (November 8), there will be a family fun day, including a bouncy castle and free popcorn and candyfloss, at Cranford Community College, in High Street, Cranford, from 2.30pm-4.30pm.

This is the final chance for members of the public to have their say before the plans are submitted to Big Local, the Nationally Lottery funded programme, for approval.

HWCP chairman Alan Fraser said: "I urge all residents in the area to attend one of the free events being staged on Friday and Saturday to have their say. It is important to be able to show to the National Lottery that the community is behind this programme."

The area covers the following estates and roads: Redwood estate, Brabazon estate, Harlech Gardens, Hartlands estate, Scott Gardens, Armytage Road and Norman Crescent.

Should the plans - which have yet to be revealed - get the go-ahead, they will be implemented by the environmental charity Groundwork.
