Firefighters have managed to contain a fire in the roof of an expensive South Kensington flat.

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a fire at a house converted into flats at the junction of Onslow Gardens and Old Brompton Road at 3pm.

They have used a cherry picker to contain the fire in the roof of the top flat in the four-storey building and luckily there have been no injuries.

A spokeswoman from London Fire Brigade, said: “The Brigade was called at 1505. Fire crews from Kensington, Chelsea, Fulham and Battersea fire stations are attending the incident. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.”

Onslow Gardens is known for its luxurious homes, with a three bedroom apartment currently listed with Foxtons on sale for £2,795,000.

Old Brompton Road is currently closed off to traffic.

This is the third fire in three days in central west London - on Monday (January 19) a cleaner, a woman and her baby escaped a fire which badly damaged a West Kensington Victorian town house in Edith Road, and yesterday (January 20) firefighters rescued a man and a woman from a second floor flat on fire in Park Street, Imperial Wharf, in Fulham.
