A campaign to move a bus stop in Brentford's Great West Quarter has been stepped up following a crash at the site.

People living on the estate in Ealing Road claim a taxi collided with a bollard last week after swerving to avoid a 235 bus.

No one is understood to have been injured in the crash but residents say it highlights the danger of placing the stand in the development's plaza and having buses travel in a 'confusing' anti-clockwise direction.

Brentford and Isleworth MP Mary Macleod has now called for a meeting with transport chiefs over the growing concerns of residents.

"The accident at Great West Quarter is an indication that Transport for London must take residents' concerns about the safety of the bus stop seriously.

"Happily, the taxi driver escaped without injury but the danger cannot be ignored any longer, especially when so many residents are families with children.

"I have urged Transport for London (TfL) to meet with me as soon as possible so we can resolve this issue as soon as possible."

Residents have been fighting since the route was extended last December to get the bus stop relocated outside the estate onto Ealing Road itself.

As well as the potential danger, they have complained about being woken as early as 5pm by the growl of engines outside their homes.

TfL has previously said it has no plans to move the stop, which it says is used by more than 250 passengers on a typical weekday.
