Students at The Heathland School in Hounslow got the mayor's seal of approval as they celebrated a top set of A-level results today.

Hounslow mayor Corinna Smart joined pupils at the school in Wellington Road South this morning as they ripped into envelopes to discover their grades.

More than 200 students secured their places at university, many at top Russell Group institutions, with 18 achieving straight A* or A grades.

Headmaster Harinder Pattar said: "I am really  impressed by our success rate in traditional A-level subjects and in applied business studies. The mayor was a very welcome visitor who related well to all the students she met."

A*-C pass rate: 77%

Overall pass rate: 98.6 per cent

Average Point Score per pupil for A2 subjects: 626.8

Average Point Score per entry for A2 subjects: 220.2
