A man has been arrested after a car veered of the road and crashed into railings near Lancaster Gate, Westminster, on Friday morning (December 15).

Metropolitan Police was called to the crash in A402 Lancaster Terrace at the junction of Bayswater Road at 5.08am.

At 8am police confirmed the driver of the vehicle had been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and been taken to a west London police station.

Traffic reporting system Inrix states a crane was being used to remove the vehicle.

A Met police spokesman said: "We were called to a road traffic accident in A402 Lancaster Terrace at 5.08am.

"A car was found to have left the road crashed into the railings.

"The driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taken to a west London police station where he is being held."

The A402 Lancaster Terrace road remained closed following the collision and motorists were advised to take another route.

There were no reported injuries.
