A car which left the road and smashed into railings on Friday morning (December 15) has forced the closure of the northbound A4209 Lancaster Terrace.

Police have closed the one-way road after the car crashed into the railings by the Rose Hill Hotel, near Lancaster Gate station.

The crash happened between the A402 Bayswater Road and Gloucester Terrace at around 6am.

Traffic is currently coping well but some bus routes have been affected.

Lancaster Terrace fully reopened

Lancaster Terrace has now fully reopened after a car left the road and crashed into barriers at 5.08am today.

A crane attended the incident to pull out the car that was stuck between railings and a building.

There were no reported injuries.

Metropolitan Police confirmed the driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

He is currently being held at a west London police station.

Lancaster Terrace remains closed

A spokesman from Westminster council said: “The road is currently closed and will not reopen until the police deem it safe. In the meantime we will be providing any support the police require to address the situation.”

Driver of crashed car arrested on suspicion of drink driving

Metropolitan Police confirmed that a man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after the car he was driving reportedly veered off the road and crashed into railings in A402 Lancaster Terrace at the junction of Bayswater Road at 5.08 on Friday morning (December 15).

The Met confirmed that there were no reported injuries and the man arrested has been taken to a west London police station where he is being held.

Good morning! Following an accident this morning, the A4209 Lancaster Terrace northbound is closed.
