Cancer patients and their families can unwind while knitting or crocheting at a new weekly craft session in Isleworth.
The Mulberry Centre, in the grounds of West Middlesex Hospital, in Twickenham Road, has teamed up with care provider Bluebird Care to launch its Crafty Wednesday club.
Every Wednesday at the centre, from 1pm-3pm, people can learn new skills or practise old ones while getting to know others affected by cancer.
Sue Lipman, who regularly attends the sessions, sponsored by Bluebird Care (Hounslow), said: "Being able to sit and crochet was really therapeutic for me while going through my cancer treatment. Stitching a little bit each session and making something felt as though I was progressing even when I felt really ill."
The Crafty Wednesday workshop is one of a range of activities and social groups available at the Mulberry Centre, which provides information and support to those affected by cancer.
Bluebird Care (Hounslow) is the first business to sponsor one of these groups, and the charity has appealed for more local firms to offer their backing. If you think you can help, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 020 8321 6300.
