Great news for ice cream lovers looking for something to cool them down during the heatwave forecast to arrive in London ... taxi company Uber is giving away FREE ice cream.
The private hire vehicle company has teamed up with ice lolly company POPS to deliver delicious sweet treats to users of the mobile app on Friday August 12 from 11am.
The offer is available in 17 cities and towns across the UK, including London.
In central London, users will be able to request free ice creams through the new UberEATS app, with treats delivered by motorbike and bicycle.
The taxi company had previously planned to run the promotion of handing out free Magnums on Friday July 15, but cancelled the event after the terror attacks in Nice as a mark of respect .
This was after 85 people were killed on Bastille Day in Nice, France on July 14 when a man drove a lorry through large crowds of pedestrians.
What is being delivered?
Okay, so this time it isn't actually ice cream being delivered, but ice pops.
Uber has teamed up with London company POPS to deliver alcohol-free ice pops to app users. Flavours include strawberry and mint and apple and elderflower.
How do I get some?
- Open the Uber or UberEATS app on Friday August 12, between 11am and 7pm
- Set your location and request 'ICE CREAM'
- If your request is successful, ice cream will be delivered in minutes
What if my request isn't successful?
Uber has said they will try to deliver as many ice creams as they can between 11am and 7pm on Friday, but demand could be high.
If your request is unsuccessful at first or there are no drivers available at that time, you can keep trying up until 7pm or until a driver is free.
Do I need the app?
Yes. Everyone who is registered on the app by Friday July 15 will see the Ice Cream icon when they open it.
If you don't already have the app, you can download it from the App Store or Google Play. Simply set up an account and register your contact and card details.
