Mothers went into meltdown on New Year's Eve when Tom Hardy read bedtime stories on CBeebies.

And now the children's channel has revealed the hunky Hollywood actor will return on Valentine's Day for more bedtime fun.

The 39-year-old will be reading The Cloudspotter by Tom McLaughlin.

It tells the story of a little boy called Franklin who spends most of his time alone spotting adventures in the sky.

But when Scruffy the dog comes along things begin to change for the lonely youngster.

Tom will be joined by his own pet pooch Woody to tell the story.

The announcement was made on the CBeebies Facebook page and the post has been shared by more than 8,000 people.

It seems mums were overjoyed by the news of his return to the channel.

User Hayley Brown commented: "Let's just be honest....(because we're all thinking it, right?)...he should definitely just become a permanent fixture on the reading of the bedtime story. Very happy single mammy here!"

But the dads are feeling a little left out.

Peter Lidbetter said: "Please notify me when Scarlett Johansson will be doing a bedtime story."

However CBeebies is eager to please the male audience too, responding with: "Not as yet... but the lovely Isla Fisher does read a NEW story this Friday night. See Dads, we think of you too."

CBeebies Bedtime Stories is on CBeebies every day at 6.50pm.
