Watch the Rio Olympics in deckchairs

The biggest sporting event on the planet will be shown live on a giant screen in Hammersmith as the Olympics comes to Rio this August.

Lie back and enjoy the impressive athletic skill from a deck chair right by Hammersmith's Lyric Theatre.

The screens will be up from Friday August 5 to Sunday August 21 and are free to watch.

Enjoy the annual Notting Hill Carnival

Notting Hill Carnival takes place annually on the August bank holiday to celebrate Caribbean culture.

London's Afro-Caribbean communities have been celebrating their culture and traditions with the two-day festival since 1964. Around 500 people came then, and now around one million people attend the carnival annually, with the event getting bigger and better every year.

This event takes place from Saturday August 27 to Monday August 29 and is free.

Go to a one-day outdoor water festival

Held at Battersea Park, Splash Fest is a family-friendly aqua obstacle course that features five zones of water-themed challenges and games over a 2.5km trail.

Splash Fest will see families conquering slides, foam and water spouts, as well as enjoying a fun event village.

This event takes place on Sunday August 7.

Tickets bought in advance cost £22 for adults and £10 for children. Tickets cost £25 for adults and £12.50 for children on the gate. Children under three go free.

See an outdoor film at sunset

Kensington Roof Gardens are one of the venues participating in the Rooftop Film Club, a series of outdoor film events where you can watch the latest flicks under the stars.

With the weather warming up there's no need for a blanket; snuggle up with a friend or partner and laugh or cry your way through the best summer movies.

Next showing will be Top Gun on Monday August 15.
