Syon Park has announced its programme for the summer.

Built on the site of a late medieval abbey and set in 200 acres of parkland with beautifully designed gardens, the Brentford estate is one of London’s hidden treasures.

After the success of the Foodies Festival, Syon Park is hosting a range of fun and interesting events.

From an opera show to a special Pocahontas ceremony, take a look at the summer programme below.

Pocahontas and the Percys Tours

Travel back 400 years to the time of Pocahontas and her visit to England.

Syon Park is hosting a number of events so visitors can learn about the story of Pocahontas and her connection to the Percy family.

Syon House is the London home of the Duke of Northumberland and has been in the Percy family for hundreds of years.

There will be specialist tours and events about Pocahontas, her time in Brentford and what life was like during the Jacobean era.

The tour is free with the purchase of a House and Garden ticket.

Places will be limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Date: Wednesday afternoons at 2pm at Syon House.

Tickets: For more information or to book tickets please contact The Visitor Centre on 020 8560 0882 or visitorcentre@syonpark.co.uk.

Remembering Pocahontas

A special evening to commemorate Pocahontas, 400 years after her death, will be held in Syon House.

The home is near to where she stayed during her visit to Britain, the London home of the Earls of Northumberland.

During the evening, a Native American ceremony will take place in the grounds.

It will follow the journeys of three modern Native American women following in Pocahontas' steps (Sierra Tasi Baker, Gabe Hughes and Stephanie Pratt).

Hidden Histories, a screening of Syon Park's film about indigenous travellers to London narrated by Mark Rylance, will then be showcased.

Date: Thursday June 15 at 6.30pm.

Tickets: £20 (includes a complimentary glass of wine). Tickets can be booked online.

Opera at Syon

In aid of Children with Cancer UK The Great Conservatory, Diva Opera will be providing two stunning evenings of entertainment, with productions of Rossini’s La Cenerentola and Puccini’s La Bohème.

This is the 26th year the charity will be presenting opera in this beautiful setting.

Picnics will be provided during the interval, all within the beautiful Great Conservatory in Syon Park.

Date: La Cenerentola by Rossini, Wednesday June 28, 6.30pm - 11.30pm. La Bohème by Puccini, Thursday June 29.
