St George's Day remembers the patron saint of England on the anniversary of his death, which is now seen as England's national day.

According to legend, Saint George was born some time around 280AD in Turkey, and rose up the ranks of the Roman army. He is most famous for slaying a dragon to save a princess - a story which has now been turned into several different fairytales.

St George's Day, the anniversary of his death, is Thursday April 23.

Last year, Prime Minister David Cameron said in a St George's Day message: "St George has been England's patron saint since 1350. But for too long, his feast day - England's national day - has been overlooked.

"Today, though, more and more people are coming together on or around April 23, eager to celebrate everything it is to be English."

So get your St George's flag ready to wave with pride and get involved in our national day!
