St George's Day is just around the corner, falling on Saturday April 23.

And if you're looking for a way to celebrate, The Rotary Club of Pinner is hosting traditional St George's Day celebrations on Sunday April 24.

Held in and around Pinner Village High Street at 12pm, the event will again include its traditional Ye Olde Wheelbarrow Race; teams of two will take it in turns to push their partner in a wheelbarrow, drink beer and race from Little Common to the High Street and into Church Green.

Hundreds of families enjoyed the annual celebrations last year.

Entertainment will include singer Gemma Turner, the Merrydowners Morris Men, the Herga Mummers, Punch and Judy, a bouncy castle, plus a number of other stalls and entertainers. Also included this year will be a petting farm for children to enjoy.

In the High Street, The Queen's Head will be holding a beer festival, and there will be a hog roast courtesy of Friends Restaurant.

The High Street will be closed as the Mayor of Harrow and dignitaries, led by St George on horseback, will gather by the war memorial for the ceremonial pledging of oaths by the Scouts and Police Cadets.

A spokesman for the event said: "This year's event promises to be even bigger and better than ever and we see the return of an event to be held after the Wheelbarrow Race called 'Wheelbarrow Dragon Jousting'!"
