The world's fastest city zip line is coming to London this summer, offering never before seen views of the capital's glorious skyline.

Londoners can get catch the wind in their sails as they glide over London at speeds of up to 50mph.

The 30 second ride will see brave souls descend from a 35-metre tower in Archbishops park, near Lambeth Palace. That's taller than nine double decker Routemasters.

Barry Sheverin, the man behind Zip World London, described the 225 metre ride as "a decent halfway house between a rollercoaster and a bungee jump".

Remember this? Hopefully this won't happen to you

“Giant zip lines and the greatest cityscape in the world - it seemed such an obvious idea to put the two together," he said.

“And Archbishop’s Park is one of London’s best-kept secrets. We really want to help it get the attention it deserves."

The Welsh company behind the pop up experience this summer have three including the world's fastest and Europe's longest zip wire at Penrhyn Quarry, Gwynedd.

“[Zip World Penrhyn] is great but it is a day trip, this you can do in your lunch hour," said Mr Sheverin.

“It’s very difficult to replicate that childhood experience of doing something new every day. I hope people will come away thinking, 'Wow, I've never done that before'."

What's the deal?

There will be two wires, a taughter one for heavier riders and a more slack one for younger and lighter riders.

With a ride every two minutes, that means 60 people can have a go on the line each hour.

Tickets for Zip World London cost £22.50 for adults, £18.50 for students and £16.50 for children over eight.

A family ticket costs £58.95. It is open from 10am to 7pm from 7 July for 12 weeks.
