West London women looking to fight dirty against cancer now have the chance; Cancer Research's Race for Life Pretty Muddy event is now coming to Hammersmith!

Following a Pretty Muddy event at Wormwood Scrubs in June, the charity has been inundated with pleas for extra places, and now the event will be returning for a second event in September.

On Wednesday September 2, women of all shapes and sizes will get the chance to join in this non-competitive race that helps raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK. The race involves a 5k obstacle course full of mud, splashes and lots of fun.

Cancer Research UK London event manager, Fiona Murray, said: "We've been overwhelmed by the commitment women in the city have shown to the cause and the way they have wholeheartedly embraced Pretty Muddy.

"We know they aren't afraid to get their hands, and the rest of their bodies, dirty in the fight against cancer, so we're delighted to be returning to Wormwood Scrubs for a second time.

"Every hour, more than three people are diagnosed with cancer in London. That's why we need brave ladies to show their fighting spirit and sign up as soon as possible. We are urging women to grab their places now, whether they’re a Pretty Muddy novice or have already taken part and want the chance for mud, sweat and tears all over again."

June's Pretty Muddy event saw 2,100 women throwing themselves into the sell-out 5k, which offers added obstacles and mud. This September, organisers need 700 women and girls to get their hands dirty and join the fight.

Murray said: "The atmosphere on the day is amazing. There is an incredible power and strength that comes from thousands of women joining together, having fun and getting covered in mud, to confront cancer.

"Women can complete the Pretty Muddy course at their own pace, climbing, jumping, walking and laughing their way around.

"It's not about who crosses the finish line first. It's about women of all ages tackling obstacles together and helping Cancer Research UK's scientists in their ultimate challenge; bringing forward the day when all cancers are cured."
