Thousands of people took to the streets of London to celebrate LGBT+ festival Pride on Saturday (June 25), the biggest-one day event held in London annually.

Video taken by Irish Writers Centre shows the colourful crowd marching through Soho at the parade, which also celebrated with a line-up of entertainment in Trafalgar Square during the day.

A one-minute silence was also observed during the event as tribute to the victims of a mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

Among the thousands of people celebrating were charities, politicians, and even celebrities, with Absolutely Fabulous duo Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley joining in the parade.

The theme of the event this year was #NoFilter, which encourages LGBT+ individuals to live their life with no filter and to be true to themselves.

James Holt, director of communications for Pride in London said: "The theme of Pride in London this year is #NoFilter. This is all about campaigning for those people who have to live their lives with a filter, unable to be their true self.

"It also celebrates the progress we have made. For this day, for this moment, people in London can be free to be whoever they want to be."

As London celebrated the Pride festival, Conservative minister Justine Greening announced that she is in a same-sex relationship on Twitter with a "Brexit" joke.

She said: "I campaigned for Stronger In but sometimes you're better off out!"
