It's almost time to wave goodbye to yet another year and prepare to countdown to 2017!

New Year's Eve is a night for celebrations, and whether you enjoy heading out for drinks, sitting down for a meal or just watching the fireworks at home on TV, there's something for everyone to do in capital.

One of London's biggest New Year's Eve celebrations are of course the impressive Fireworks on the River Thames.

However, if you haven't already booked a ticket then you will not be able to watch them from the river bank itself as access is restricted to ticket holders only and tickets have sold out.

Don't worry though as there are still plenty of other options for your New Year's Eve countdown here in west London.

A night at the History Museum

The ball is your chance to dance the night away in the Natural History Museum's entrance hall

Held in the iconic entrance hall at the Natural History Museum, guests are invited along to see the New Year in, in style.

Head down to the ball to grab your last chance to dance with Dippy the Dinosaur. The much loved Dinosaur is off on tour, so won't be available to welcome in 2018.

Dance around the 70ft replica skeleton to a range of music including, pop, dance, R&B and club classics.

And if you need a break from all of the action, have a browse in the Dinosaurs gallery, which will be open on the night for guests.

As the clock approaches 12, gather on the steps of Hintze Hall to welcome the start of 2017 and why not craft your own 2017 crown for when the clock strikes 12?

Ball tickets start at £130 for non members and costs £215 with the addition of a three course meal.

The party kicks off at 8pm.

Variety Extravaganza at Bush Hall

Soak up the festive cheer and dance away those Christmas blues with a variety extravaganza at Bush Hall. in White City.

Expect a night of circus, singing, dancing and true celebration as you countdown to the New Year, and it’s the last ever White Mischief celebration at Bush Hall, so they are sure to be pulling out all the stops!

Tickets start at £15 and the event begins at 8pm.

This New Year's Eve, the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith is playing host to one of the biggest pop celebrations in the capital.

Club De Fromage celebrates it's 10th birthday this New Year's Eve, so why not join the party and help them celebrate?

Party goers will be treated to an indoor pyro show, confetti cannons, guest acts and bands and there will even be an organ at the ready to blast out Auld Lang Syne for a traditional welcome into the New Year.

Advanced tickets are priced from £10 and the event starts at 10pm.

Cinderella Ball in Chelsea

Ladies fish out those cocktail dresses and gentlemen get your black ties at the ready, there's a Ball taking place and it's on the look out for Cinderella and Prince Charming.

JuJu in Chelsea is hosting the black tie event to welcome in 2017, with complimentary welcome drinks and a canapé reception.

And don't forget your glass slippers as your prince or princess will be waiting on the dance floor to waltz you into the New Year.

The event begins at 6pm and tickets start at £24.99

Beer Hall Bash in Fulham

The Oompah Brass band will be playing all night

Cocktails dresses and black ties not your thing? Don't worry, this is sure to be up your street.

Grab an ice cold German beer and prepare to jump on the tables, as you dance your way into 2017 with the live Oompah Brass band at the Octoberfest Pub in Fulham.

The traditional German band will be serenading you until 2am while you sip on a 1 litre beer stien and soak up the Bavarian festival atmosphere.

And there's a free shot waiting for anyone who turns up in Bavarian costume, so it's time to get your hands back into those fancy dress boxes!

The party starts at 7pm, tickets cost £15.

It's a circus at Kensington Roof Gardens

Acrobats, stilt walkers and jugglers at the ready, Kensington Roof Gardens are opening up a circus for their New Year's Eve party and you are all invited.

Enjoy a drinks reception followed by a winter barbecue, and does anyone enjoy a 2am snack? Well you are in for a treat as there will be breakfast canapés on hand.

And don't forget your jackets because your 2016 will go out with a bang as you enjoy a fireworks display from the roof.
