International Women's Day is a celebration which aims to inspire women across the world, falling annually on Tuesday March 8.

The first National Women's Day took place in 1909 and its roots are in campaigning for better pay and voting rights. This year, events will take place across Britain and the world to celebrate the achievements of women.

From celebrities tweeting, to Google marking the occasion with a special "Google Doodle", there are loads of ways to show the women in your life you care, and champion the rights of ladies everywhere.

British Airways invited female students to experience the world of engineering to encourage more to enter the profession.
