Get your aprons at the ready! Britain's most famous tent is set to grace our TV screens once again.

Channel 4 has confirmed the start date of new series of The Great British Bake Off - and it kicks off in a matter of weeks.

The TV channel announced the news via its official Twitter account.

Its tweet reads: "The Great British Bake Off #GBBO returns Tuesday 28th August 8pm"

Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will resume their judging duties, while presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig are also set to make a return.

A teaser trailer for the upcoming series was released last week, and it follows a similar format to last year's.

It shows a selection of misshapen sweet treats, singing along to Christina Aguilera's 'Beautiful'.

Fans will have to wait a little longer for the new contestants to be revealed.

Last year, 33-year-old army officer Sophie Faldo was crowned the winner.

Her triumph was aired on TV just hours after restaurateur Prue Leith accidentally gave the game away on Twitter.

The Great British Bake Off 2018 will start on Tuesday, August 28 on Channel 4.

A start time is yet to be confirmed.
