Foo Fighters have cancelled their Wembley Stadium gigs after frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg at a European show.

The rock band, who were due to play two shows at Wembley on Friday and Saturday (June 19 and 20), have been forced to pull out.

Lead singer Grohl broke his leg when he fell off stage at a gig in Sweden on Friday (June 12).

The Foos had already cancelled two shows due to the incident but, on Tuesday night (June 16), they revealed they'd also be cancelling five more gigs, including the London shows and Glastonbury Festival, where they were due to headline.

A statement on the Foo Fighters' website said: "Due to injuries sustained in Dave Grohl’s fall from the stage during Foo Fighters’ June 12 show at Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden, doctors have required the cancellation of the remainder of the band’s dates in the UK and Europe.

"After undergoing surgery Monday, Dave’s full recuperation time is still to be determined.

"It was previously announced that Foo Fighters’ June 14 appearance at the Pinkpop Festival and June 16 show at the AFG Arena in St Gallen, Switzerland were cancelled."

The band will no longer perform at the following:

June 19 & 20 - London, UK - Wembley Stadium

June 23 - Edinburgh, UK - BT Murrayfield Stadium

June 25 - Werchter, Belgium - Festivalpark Werchter

June 26 - Glastonbury Festival 2015

A statement on the Wembley Stadium website said: "A further announcement will be made on Friday to advise ticket purchasers of the process for refunding of tickets and to report any other available information.

"Tickets purchasers will be contacted directly where possible and information will also be released on all available channels. Please await that release as the point of purchase will have no further information at this time.

"For fans who purchased disabled tickets, please contact info@wembleystadium.com and for Club Wembley members please contact clubwembley@wembleystadium.com.

"Finally, we would like to wish Dave Grohl a speedy recovery from everyone at Wembley Stadium and hope to welcome Foo Fighters back here soon."
