Thousands of spectators and supporters are expected to line the streets of the borough to cheer on the runners during the annual Ealing Half Marathon on Sunday September 27 from 9am.

They will spread the #EalingFeeling which the race has become well-known for.

Race director, Kelvin Walker, said: "The Ealing Half Marathon has been going from strength to strength since the inaugural race took place in the Olympic year.

We would like to express a big thank-you to everyone who has been supporting us along the way and to all the runners who return to Ealing year after year."

Volunteering opportunities

There are still hundreds of opportunities to volunteer at the half marathon!

Information on the Ealing Half Marathon website states: "This year we'll be putting together an even bigger volunteer team, looking after the race village in Lammas Park, and out on the roads of Ealing guiding the runners and helping local residents. It's a fun and rewarding experience for all and we'd love you to get involved!"

Positions needed include; team leaders, traffic co-ordinators, race marshals, water station teams, and baggage and race village co-ordinators.

Volunteers will be expected to work between four to six hours on the day, and will be mostly starting at 7.30am.

They will receive a breakfast, T-shirt, memento medal and training. Free race places for the Ealing Half Marathon 2016 are also up for grabs for any volunteers who feel inspired to run the 13.1 miles after experiencing the unique race day atmosphere this year.

If you're interested in volunteering and wish to sign up, please visit the Ealing Half Marathon website. Anyone can apply to volunteer until Thursday September 24.

Ealing Half Marathon's last minute top tips!

Ealing Half Marathon have provided a list of their last minute top tips for runners on the day... Make sure you're prepared!

  • Ensure you have trained appropriately. You should be able to run comfortably for 10 miles (around 16km) at least three weeks before the event!
  • Listen to your body - if you're not well on the day, please do not run! There will be plenty of other races, but you only have one life.
  • Drink a sensible amount of fluids.
  • Stick to your tried and tested diet on race day - this is not the time to try new foods or mealtimes.
  • Make sure your friends know your race number and likely finishing time.
  • If you do have to drop out, please notify the nearest marshal/first aid point so supporters waiting for you can be informed.
  • Start the race well hydrated and drink whenever you can, especially in the first half of the race, but do not gulp down large volumes of liquid.
  • Upon finishing, do not stand about getting cold - keep walking and drink a sensible amount of fluid.
  • Change into dry warm clothes as soon as possible.
  • Keep taking fluid on-board and have something to eat after the race.
