Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously injured following a collision in central London.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service were called to Hyde Park Corner at the junction with Constitutional Hill, SW1 shortly after midnight following reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a cyclist.

They found a 31-year-old man, the cyclist, suffering from serious head injuries. He was taken to a central London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene. No arrests have been made.
