The country's only floating Christmas tree will be coming to the capital and will twinkle with a spectacular 14,000 lights this festive season.

St Katharine Docks is hosting the only floating tree in the UK and is inviting Londoners to come and see the 45ft spectacle switch on at the docks on November 24.

Nestled beside the Tower of London, the docks have seen eight men spend 16 hours assembling the attraction, complete with the five foot star on top.

Weighing in at 5.8 tonnes, Londoners who wish to venture a little out of their usual spot can see the unusual decoration dazzle every hour with lights.

The docks will also be hosting live music events and children's activities throughout the Christmas period and even a Christmas film festival playing all the favourites.

A spokesman for the docks said: "On the hour every hour the tree will come alive with sparkling lights whilst the rest of the docks will be shining bright for the public to come and soak up the Christmas cheer."

The capital will see a series of light switch ons this month, with the famous Oxford Street already being lit up by popstar legend, Craig David.
