A charity shop is holding a free sewing workshop to show people how to up-cycle old or unwanted clothes.

Traid in Shepherd's Bush Green is hosting a late-night re-opening after a refurbishment on Thursday, April 3 from 6.30pm to 9pm.

Staff will help you transform waste pieces of denim into a gorgeous rucksack in the free Sew Good workshop. Sewing machines, material and expertise will be provided to teach you all the sewing and up-cycling skills needed to turn last season's clothes into stunning, sustainable must-haves.

People can also browse a selection of hand-picked secondhand clothes, vintage items, shoes and accessories, with a DJ spinning great tunes.

It follows a popular workshop last month at Traid's branch in King Street, Hammersmith .

The charity aims to stop unwanted clothes from being thrown away, while raising funds to improve the conditions in textile factories across the world.

Traid will be asking customers to sign up to its #secondhandfirst pledge and commit to ensuring a percentage of their wardrobe comes from sustainable sources like charity shops, clothes swapping and upcycling.

Book a place at the workshop by emailing sewgood@traid.org.uk.
