AN Indian musical spectacular, which has won acclaim in Europe, makes its UK debut for one night only at the Hammersmith Apollo.

Bharati boasts a huge cast of performers, 800 costumes, giant video projections and popular Bollywood hits as well as specially composed music.

There is also an amazing display of martial arts and acrobatics.

A narrator tells the tale of a young engineer, Siddharth, born in India and brought up in America, who goes to the holy city of Varanasi to work on the river Ganges' cleaning project.

Cynical about Indian culture, his eyes are soon opened by the elusive Bharati and, as he falls in love with her, he rediscovers his roots.

* Bharati is on at Hammersmith Apollo, Queen Caroline Street, Hammersmith on Wednesday, March 11. Tickets from 0871 230 1097 or online at: www.aeglive.co.uk
