Young's Seafoods has issued an urgent recall over fears some of its fish cakes may contain "pieces of plastic and metal".

Several batches of the 300g frozen Chip Shop Fish Cakes are included in the recall.

The Food Standards Agency warned: "The presence of plastic and metal makes this product unsafe to eat and presents a safety risk.

"The affected product is sold in some Farmfoods and Heron Foods stores."

If you have bought the product, you should return it immediately to the store where it was bought for a full refund.

The recall only affects batch numbers AAL 7209K, AAL 7209L, AAK 7222J and AAL 7222K.

No other Young's products are known to be affected.
