It is months until Santa starts delivering presents, but that hasn't stopped shops from lining their shelves in seasonal treats.

John Lewis jumped on the festive bandwagon last week to unveil its new Christmas Market in Oxford Street.

“We know Christmas is a time for family and friends to gather and celebrate, and have worked hard to find a variety of products both locally and from around the world, to help make it even more special," said John Lewis' Christmas Buyer, Dan Cooper.

“Get ready to see trees grow taller, advent calendars become more luxurious, witness Gin wine as the tipple of the season, see tinsel transformed with a modern make-over and buy baubles that are ever more unique and playful.

To mark the opening, the retailer has released its Christmas Trends report, telling shoppers the hottest festive trends.

According to the report, tinsel is set to be a huge trend with a unique range available, including an oak leaf tinsel in soft gold.

The store claim they are ready to spark a revival of the retro favourite.

The department includes a 22-foot Great Wall of Baubles featuring more than 780 baubles, and a 19ft wall

Christmas trees are going to be bigger than ever and pre-lit- John Lewis expect more than half of trees bought in store to be pre-decorated with lights.

When it comes to the countdown to the day itself, John Lewis has predicted a 57% increase in popularity for product-led advent calendars as shoppers move away from traditional chocolate treats to a variety of bespoke styles, offering daily surprises of beauty products, gin and even pork scratchings.
