Christmas Eve boxes have grown in popularity in the UK over recent years, and it's now becoming a Yuletide tradition for some families.

Giving children a box containing gifts the night before December 25, was first practised in the US before it made its way across the pond.

And now thanks to Asda, you can buy one for a reasonable price of £2.50 - which means you have more money to spend on small gifts to put inside it.

Parents can fill them with whatever they like, from Pjs, to books, stationary and sweets.

The supermarket's boxes come with illustrations of Mr and Mrs Claus on the front, as well as a blank space to write your child's name.

They are great for younger children who can't contain their excitement to open their presents on Christmas morning.

But if you want one you'll have to be quick, as Asda will only be selling the boxes for two weeks.

Sarah Tristram, Christmas trends expert at George, said: “The trend for Christmas Eve boxes has come across from America – they’ve been doing it over there for years.

“With Christmas Eve falling on a Sunday this year, we are predicting that there will be more families spending the evening together.

“The boxes look like they will be hugely popular with our customers, so we are urging any families to grab them before they are gone.”

They are available to buy at selected Asda stores now.
