At Westside, we pride ourselves on uncovering the freshest DJs and the future of radio. Each year we train a number of young people to become professional radio presenters.
One of the many training projects that we at Westside run is ‘My School’. This is an audio podcast project that aims to showcase pupils from local schools talents live on air. The three schools that have taken part most recently are pupils from Drayton Manor High School, Featherstone High School and Cardinal Wiseman High School.
Next week, Westside will be treating you to their podcasts, LIVE. Westside love to spoil you as the stars of every podcast will be live on ‘The Voice’ - our very own Community Show - next Wednesday through to Friday. So, London’s finest undiscovered youths in speech-radio will be taking over that time slot… Tune in from 7PM each day, as the students from each school join us live in the studio for an exclusive chat! You won’t want to miss it!
Each ‘My School’ project is a one-day workshop that consists of 10 students from each school within the Ealing Borough coming down to the Westside studios to take part in a professional taster course. At the end of the one-off session, the pupils will produce an audio podcast that includes interviews conducted by the students & teachers, a jingle to introduce their school and a narrative focusing on their particular school’s achievements and facts.
Finally, once the final podcast has been edited it will play on Westside. The students will then be invited as live guests to talk about the project and how their podcasts came together.
