Here at Westside, Andrea had the pleasure of interviewing the ‘feisty and fresh lady’ that is Amplify Dot aka A Dot or Dotty as we call her on Westside TV!

Amplify Dot is the first female rapper to sign a major album deal since Ms Dynamite; Dotty’s proving that she has just what it takes to be England’s answer to Nicki Minaj.

During the interview, Dotty spoke of her success and becoming Ms Dynamite’s protégée: "It was crazy ‘cause that Ms Dynamite album, I loved ‘A Little Deeper’. On the 10th year anniversary of that album coming out, I signed my record deal. It felt almost like she was passing the baton to me."

She’s even been lucky enough to work with her idol, who she described her ‘fairy god mother.’

Throughout her flourishing career Amplify Dot has collaborated with the likes of Etta Bond (who just happens to be a good friend of hers) Eric Prydz, and Cleo Soul; all the tracks appear on her latest mix-tape.

From the mix-tape, Andrea specifically recommended ‘Mars’. This is a track that’s destined to get you whining, grinding and twerkin’ all the way to the rave!

Speaking of her latest track, ‘I’m Good’, which features none other than Busta Rhymes; Dotty said: “It’s about feeling on top of the world, you set your sights on something. Dreams seem like a figment of your imagination. People will tell you that ‘nah, it’s farfetched, farfetched!’ Once you get to that point, I think you deserve to stick your middle finger up to the world and say: I’m Good.”

Like any artist, Amplify Dot has gone through her fair share of hardships: “I achieved something that people doubted me to achieve, I want people to have that I’m good moment…”

As she was growing up, her influences include: Ms Dynamite, Missy Elliot, Lauryn Hill, Salt & Pepper and TLC; these artists have shaped her music career a lot.

Finally, with Wretch 32 championing her, Amplify Dot’s destined for even greater things!

“Wretch is a great guy, I value his opinion I look up to him a lot. So, to have him in my corner and to hear he’s championing me, it means a lot.”

‘I’m Good’ is out NOW, the track will also appear on her upcoming album.

Judging by her mix-tape, her album is going to be LIVE!
