The guitarist of the New York Dolls releases his own album with his Crazy Truth band.

To rock and rollers around the globe, the legendary Steve Conte is probably best known as the lead guitarist, songwriter and backing vocalist in the New York Dolls. Conte is also the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist for a raft of other bands including Crown Jewels, The Contes, and his latest incarnation - Steve Conte & The Crazy Truth.

Playing a mixture of gritty desert punk, sleazy garage rock and raunchy blues, this is a well crafted album of soulful grooves that conjure up a smoky lounge and a dark stage where he tells his tales of redemption, debauchery and rock and roll.
Reflecting upon two decades of life and excess in New York City, Conte touches on the distractions, the troubled souls as well as filling the emptiness on this record. It’s an open, honest and not always favourable look at the perils of too much of what you like. Dive bars, gambling, sex and drugs - it's all there, but not celebrated with the traditional macho rock attitude.

The Truth Ain’t Pretty is out on 30th November on Varese Vintage/Colosseum Music.

The New York Dolls kick off their UK tour next month playing Cambridge Junction (Dec 2), Bristol Anson Rooms (Dec 3), HMV London Forum (Dec 4), Southampton Talking Heads (Dec 6), Leamington Spa Assembly (Dec 8), O2 Liverpool Academy (Dec 9) and HMV Edinburgh Picture House (Dec 10).
