Local DJs Lovesoul were chosen to host the MOBO after party, playing to the biggest names in UK black music.
Raj Kotecha and Vik Morjaria, who started out playing bars in Harrow, were told it was their job to get the party rocking at a secret gig that followed the high-profile Music Of Black Origin awards ceremony at Wembley Arena.
They said: "About five minutes into our set everyone was hammering it to the dance floor.
"There were no pretensions, people were out to party that night. Everyone was dressed up to the nines, lots of jewellery and champagne being popped."
The Lovesoul duo said they play anything soulful and that night they dropped a mix that included rare groove, R'n'B, motown, disco and ragga. And it was a massive success.
Raj said: "The best compliment we got was from a music executive who had been made redundant in the credit crunch.
"After a rough couple of weeks he said hearing our set reminded him of why he loved the music industry. And then he danced his socks off!"
The night was so exclusive Lovesoul were not told where the venue was until two hours before.
It was held in the underground night club Bombay Dreams in Wembley, where the dancefloor was white marble, studded with flashing LED lights. Around the three bars were tall multi-coloured leather couches. The lighting was kept low and the place was criss-crossed with laser beam lights.
Lovesoul chatted to Blak Twang and Sway, the two biggest names in UK rap.
Vik said: "This time last year noone knew who we were but now people were coming up to us to say hello."
The pair have just flown back from New York where they interviewed Pras Michel from the Fugees for their website, www.lovesoul.tv .
When they're not jetting between New York, Los Angeles and London, they are working on a new secret project with DJ Fricktion from rap music label Def Jam.
All they would say is that a very high profile US hip hop group will be involved.
You can catch Lovesoul DJing at The Victory, High Street, Pinner, on Friday, October 31, for a Halloween-themed party.
And for New Year's Eve they have been asked to DJ at the bar at the Gherkin in London, which will be a truly lavish affair.
