Ben Sherman has teamed up with some of music's most iconic bands and artists from across the globe for an on-line auction of their plectrums; in aid of music charity Nordoff -Robbins.

The auction will take place this month via Ebay from the 11th October and will run for three weeks. Bands who have so far donated a plectrum for the auctions include the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Kings of Leon, Klaxons, Biffy Clyro, Razorlight and Pete Doherty. The plectrums - set to become collector's items - will be presented in a beautifully designed frame, complete with band or artist imagery and a hand written authenticated statement detailing when and where the plectrums were used.

The inspiration to create the ‘VIP’ auction came from the Ben Sherman plectrum logo itself:

“We wanted to use our heritage in music and our gravitas as a brand to work with artists we admire and give something back. The Nordoff - Robbins Music Therapy was a natural fit for us – the work they do is incredibly inspiring” said Mark Maidment, Ben Sherman Creative Director.

Nordoff - Robbins Music Therapy uses live musical improvisation to help improve the quality of life for children and adults isolated by conditions such as learning disabilities, autism, mental health problems, neurological damage and serious and terminal illness. Patrons for the charity include Paul Weller, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Dido, Tom Jones, Sting, George Michael and Sir Cliff Richard OBE. The Nordoff - Robbins approach to music therapy developed from the pioneering work of Paul Nordoff and Clive Robbins in the fifties and sixties. Paul was a composer and pianist who devoted part of his life to working with people with disabilities while Clive was a special needs teacher.

Confirmed acts: Magistrates, Razorlight, Biffy Clyro, Klaxons, The Gallows, Futureheads, Subways, Franz Ferdinand, Pete Doherty, The Gaslight Anthem, New Found Glory, The Ravonettes, Passion Pit, Peter Bjorn and John plus many others.
