London has arguably the best music scene around, with thousands of talented musicians emerging every day, most of which are unsigned acts waiting for their big break.

Unsigned Friday brings you the very best unsigned music artists from around the capital, as well as giving these acts a platform to promote their music.

This week, getwestlondon 's Emily Chudy caught up with grunge and rock band from Devon, Jet Black 3.

Jet Black 3 consists of Robert Papworth (vocals), Phil Borrett (guitar) and Ashley Mortimore (drums); the band got together last year, and play heavy rock music.

The band has no bass player, instead using guitar through a normal guitar amp and a bass amp to produce a rock-sounding distorted bottom end as well as the classic guitar tone.

Borrett said: "The band are influenced by mainly Guns 'n' Roses and Velvet Revolver, as well as classic bands such as The Who and Led Zeppelin.

"Jet Black 3 have been together just over a year although Rob and Phil have been playing in bands together since school.

"The sound has developed over many years of playing different styles and with different musicians all of which has influenced what Jet Black 3 are now."

The band have been playing gigs in London since forming a year ago, and have released a popular single, Rain.

Borrett said: "Rain was the first track we recorded and since then we have written many more, almost enough for a full album. We are hoping someone will pick up the band and help financially to record more and release it to a larger audience.

"Gigs-wise we are hoping to return to London to play more gigs and build on what's starting to become a strong following.

"It's difficult to find the right type of venue and audience in Devon although we do have the support of some loyal fans who travel with us to gigs in London.

"We have been playing shows in London mostly and been getting some great feedback and attendance."

Jet Black 3 are a three-piece rock and grunge band

Borrett said: "For the future we want to play more gigs and hope to find a label to release either a single or ideally an album. Next year we are trying to get on the festival circuit and hope this leads to bigger gigs."
