London has arguably the best music scene around, with thousands of talented musicians emerging every day, most of which are unsigned acts waiting for their big break.

Unsigned Friday brings you the very best unsigned music artists from around the capital, as well as giving these acts a platform to promote their music.

This week, getwestlondon's Emily Chudy caught up with local Putney musician Richard Maule.

Richard Maule is an acoustic folk/blues act, who has been playing music for 13 years.

He specialises in highly-charged emotional performances and cites influences such as Hozier, James Blake, Damien Rice and Lumineers.

He has been featured on Radio 2 and has played many high-profile performances, including 2014's Wilderness Festival in Oxford.

Richard said: "I'm inspired by the music I listen to everyday. A mix of electro, dub, folk, soul. I love it all! Artists creating unique sounds that resonate with me. Lyrics normally come to me out of the blue.

"I'm a mixing pot of folk, blues and electro unleashed on stage in the form of a one man band...

"Going forward I want to continue with the success I've had and keep challenging myself by being as unique and creative as musically as I can be.

"The main thing is to keep loving what I do!"

Richard is working on a new EP called Esoteric Groove, which will be launched on June 1, and is planning to tour around Europe this summer.

A music reviewer for Right Chord Music said: "It's hard not to give Richard Maule your full attention. Captivating audiences with just a vocal and guitar is a difficult skill, that Richard Maule has seemingly mastered."

Richard's music is available to purchase on iTunes.
