London has arguably the best music scene around, with thousands of talented musicians emerging every day, most of which are unsigned acts waiting for their big break.

Unsigned Friday brings you the very best unsigned music artists from around the capital, as well as giving these acts a platform to promote their music.

This week, getwestlondon 's Emily Chudy caught up with Jake Aldridge, an R&B and Hip Hop artist who has previously been featured on the Unsigned Friday column back in July 2015. Jake returns to talk about his brand single.

Jake came to learn how to rap and write poetry aged 11 after the tragic death of his father. He started performing with a friend and a £12 microphone as he began practising and recording music.

Now an established artist, the musician has just released a brand new single in May, entitled When I'm Feeling Down, alongside up-and-coming singer Ellie Jamison.

Jake said: "The song is actually about friendship, and I wrote the song about my best friend just as a way of thanking him for all of his years of support.

"I feel like a lot of people in today's world leave the 'thanks yous' until the person's passed away or until it's too late, so I wanted to go against that and encourage other people to be thankful for their loved ones.

"It's quite 'poppy' and I like to think it's quite commercial and quite fun and upbeat, so that works really well and I've definitely had a good response from it, radio stations both in the UK and America have been playing it, so that's really cool."

The song is available to listen to on Spotify and iTunes , and came out on May 27.

The song is a collaboration with up-and-coming singer Ellie Jamison , who he discovered on BBC Suffolk Introducing.

Jake said: "I was looking for new singers to work with, I do like working with new people... I found Ellie Jameson, listened to her music and got in contact with her, really enjoyed it and we collaborated which was great.

"Ellie has worked with Amy Wadge who co-wrote Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran, which won a Grammy, so it was really amazing to work with someone of her calibre; I call her the harmony queen, it was absolutely incredible, I've never seen anything like it. It was really easy and effortless."

The single is just one of many new releases that Aldridge plans to create an album with in the future.

Jake said: "I have huge, huge plans. I have a new single ready... It's probably the best song I've ever done. I'm keeping it all on the hush right now, but it is completed and I'm so happy with it.

"I've got so many tracks online now... I'm definitely thinking about an album."

DJ Sterling, from Funky SX Radio, said: "Jake Aldridge is one of those artists that you need to listen to. Talented, but humble, this man needs to be signed to a major label."
