Imagine PJ Harvey meets The Pixies via X Ray Specs in a riff factory and you'll get something close to Harrow indie band Penny Dreadfuls.
Recently supported Lips on their EP launch in Twickenham and now facing a welcome return to The Crown and Treaty, Oxford Road, Uxbridge this Friday (July 10).
Bright singer Georgie Hurst has the right attitude and style that could lead this four-piece to the top. Counter melody and vocal harmonies from bassist Jack Lewis make interesting listening. Clever guitar riffs from Cameron Gallagher helped along by tight drums from Austin Young result in head nodding and shoe gazing.
There will be a support act but it is, as yet, unannounced. It's free entry to The Crown and Treaty before 10pm and just £5 after. The live music should start around 11pm.
If you're attending the Hayes Carnival this Saturday (July 11), you might want to check out The Napiers who are a three-piece local vocal and guitar group fronted by Hayes musician John Napier.
The Napiers (not John's choice of name incidentally) will be playing at the bandstand on Station Road as a part of an opening ceremony for a musical clock tower. The show starts at around 2.30pm.
