Sit back and let me tell you a story about Grant Baynham and Hilary Spencer.

Grant is an accomplished acoustic guitarist who has mastered the fiddly, the twiddly and the diddly aspects of the ancient art of folkmanship so well that when he sings and plays it's hard to believe just one person is generating those sounds.

The addition of the heavenly vocal tones into the mix from Hilary make up the musically spectacular duo known as Quicksilver. With witty tunes in their repertoire that'll have you guffawing like a drain,.Quicksilver are playing Uxbridge Folk Club, 388a Long Lane, Hillingdon this Thursday (June 11) at 8pm.

£8 will guarantee a night of exquisite music that easily rival the combined styles of Pentangle's Bert Jansch and Jacqui McShee and put the fun firmly into folk.

At the Crown and Treaty, Oxford Road, Uxbridge, this Friday (June 12) are Karma Sheen. It's £5 entry but free before 10pm and the outstanding stage presence and musical showmanship of Karma Sheen are a joy to behold. So go forth and ye shall be beholden unto them.

One to put in your diary for Saturday July 18 is SouthlandsLIVE which is just off The Green in West Drayton. Tickets are on sale as of now for this musical garden party that showcases some of the greatest upcoming talents from Hillingdon and beyond.

Here's a brief synopsis of what's on offer for your £7.50 ticket: Lips the all girl dub, ska rock band from the Hounslow area; Macchina Del Tempo, an inspirational instrumental fusion trio who really know their chops; Italy's Husky Loops are a hard-hitting indie dance band that groove; The Harlings all attended Harlington School, and are an inventive indie pop band whose composition Go is quite infectious; Sweet Panic from Harrow are a punchy, female-fronted soul rock five-piece; The Involved are Watford's psychedelic indie mods.

More hard-hitting indie dance music from Uxbridge's anthem ridden four-piece Kick; Two girls and one guy make up the quality grunge pop Harrow band Tyrants; London-based rock group Periscope View are deep and piano laden with pitch perfect female harmonies; And Ceol are a soft Celtic folk set up whose name in Gaelic translates as The Music.

A SouthlandsLIVE family ticket is a bargain at just £20 and under 5s go free. Tickets are available online.
