I'm often accused of "banging on about The Tuts" but hear me out why I tell you why.

It's probably over 10 years since I first saw the all girl three piece play at a Bentleys (now flattened) band night in West Drayton to an audience of mainly other bands and bar staff. The energy was there but the formula was lacking an unknown element.

For quite a time nothing of any great merit occurred in their camp save for a few more going nowhere gigs in local haunts or a last on the bill afterthought from disinterested promoters up town.

Luckily the flame never died and the material kept flowing out until the final piece in the chemical jigsaw arrived in the shape of Harriet on bass who not only gelled musically but also administratively. From then on The Tuts tightened up their act and became not just a band or a brand but also a team.

In the last four years this Hillingdon girl band have toured the UK and Europe supporting Kate Nash, The Selecter, Adam Ant and countless others as well as indefatigably touring on their own and they've organised it all THEMSELVES. 100% DIY. The energy never died.

They've now announced their self explanatory titled album 'Update Your Brain' (but in case you don't get it it refers to letting go of outdated mindsets and prejudices and embracing the new) is ready and will be released in September to coincide with their UK tour which takes in London, Southampton, Cardiff, Nottingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester, York, Norwich, Brighton as well as north of the border gigs in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Google "The Tuts - Update Your Brain". Just follow your nose, buy a ticket and get pledging.
