Jeeps are a trio of musicians based in Uxbridge , whose output is focused around the song writing talents of linchpin guitarist and singer Glen Strachan.

They've taken traditional pop music back from the saccharine laden precipice of vacuous nonsense and reinstalled quirks, grime and reason into the program.

Think Nirvana meets The Buggles. Edvina Fahlqvist, whose vocal adds dynamic lift, also provides the bass and the enigmatic Grant Salmon drives Jeeps with drums.

If, like myself, you're curiosity-driven, then get down to The Crown and Treaty, Oxford Road, Uxbridge, this Friday (May 27) to check Jeeps out. It's free entry before 10pm and just £5 after.

Also at The Treaty this Friday are The Drives from London, who offer a complimentary grunge sound to fit in nicely with Jeeps.

However, to quote Nigel Tufnel, The Drives are "one louder". From dreamy indie to power punk, they tread on the gaps like they only matter to the superstitious trendy genre heads who are stuck in some musical prison of what's fashionable. Individualism is all the rage these days.

The Friday bill is complete with a three piece known as Dead Belles . Born in September 2014, Dead Belles have a month old EP 'Black Cats and White Elephants' out on iTunes for your listening pleasure.

With buzzing basses and rocking guitar combined with a vocal style that hedge hops from Albarn to Ian Brown via Just Hawkins makes Dead Belles' overall sound hard to pinpoint but then that's always been a plus in my book. The question remains, can they do it live? Only you can tell.

Be sure to tune into my interactive HayesFM radio show EVERY Tuesday at 9pm to hear live and original performers. PLUS more local live music news. You can find HayesFM on 91.8FM in London or GLOBAL online .
