Calling all folk fans and lovers of acoustic based music in general. Dan McKinnon plays Uxbridge Folk Club this Thursday evening (May 12) at about 8pm.

Like all good folksters, Dan holds a bounteous wealth of history woven throughout his vast repertoire of songs which also carry a precursor of dialogue to aid you in your understanding on the melodic tale that's about to unfold.

Canadian born and bred, Dan has had a foothold in the world of music since his early teens and turned his hand to folk after a brief stint on French horn.

30 years of live performances have turned Dan into a world class force in the musical genre in which he now comfortably resides.

Rosewood Trio are also on the bill at UFC with some soothing and well known old time ballads with an original twist. Entry is £10 but students can enter for £3. You can find Uxbridge Folk Club at the Royal Naval Association. 388B Long Lane, Hillingdon, behind the shops on Hillingdon Circus.

Lucky for some, Honey Lung play The Crown and Treaty this Friday May 13. With a sound that encompasses the darker and lower tones of the vocal spectrum they walk the fine line of goth meets indie punk with the occasional burst into a bright distortion guitar solos.

Paradise Underground join the Treaty line up. With a lost in reverb Lydon/Pil-esque sneering vocal and a guitar driven riffs that squelch through anthems of the misunderstood this Buckinghamshire four piece certainly know how to rock.

However, you'd be mistaken to think that's the only colour in their paintbox. They can turn on the softness rather well also.

One more completes the show. Thrones is the materialisation of the songwriting talents of Lonnie Storey and James Carragher.

Also on Friday you can catch the indie soul five piece from Beaconsfield known as Salt who are playing at the Dublin Castle in Camden. It's around £7 entry and three other bands share the limelight. Enjoy.
