If you're stuck for live entertainment this Friday February 5, here are two gigs you could do a lot worse than catching.

The Ages are at The Crown and Treaty on Oxford Road, Uxbridge. The Ages are a band whose catchy songs demonstrate how the old craft is not lost on the young.

Feeling is abundant in their socially centred subject material and musicianship abounds with great ideas.

Supporting The Ages are The Harriots from Feltham. Harriots offer a psychedelic twinge to indie that nods towards early Stone Roses or even 60s Pink Floyd but with a distorted guitar riff screeching and a Hawkwind-esque echo. A modern moddish rumble keeps it all moving along nicely.

It's £5 entry to the Crown and Treaty but if you get there before 10pm it's absolutely FREE!

Further afield in High Wycombe you can witness Beaconsfield indie rockers Salt do their thing. Fronted by Frankie Lord whose gritty heart wrenching vocal dynamics add soul to this genre hopping bunch of boys from Bucks.

This quintet are to play The Phoenix Bar in High Wycombe with Exit Black, Wet Laces, BuzzKill, In The Rain and A Very Deep Hole (an interesting riff ridden and goth laden pop/rock band from Reading).

High Wycombe is just 30 minutes from Uxbridge via either the A40 or 740 bus link or a 20 minute drive along the M40. Entry to The Phoenix is £5.

Be sure to tune into my interactive HayesFM radio show EVERY Tuesday at 9pm to hear live and original performers. PLUS more local live music news. You can find HayesFM on 91.8FM in London or GLOBAL online.
