Bird is the word for two exciting up and coming rock bands about to play The Crown and Treaty pub on Oxford Road, Uxbridge this Friday November 20.

It's completely free if you arrive before 10pm and just £5 after.

Both acts are young, vibrant and raw but not only that, coincidentally and far less importantly, both have the word 'bird' in their name.

Bird Brain Mafia are a thrashy indie punk outfit from the West Drayton area. Citing Green Day and Nirvana as heroes they weave a tight piece of improv into their act and tend to swap instruments. One minute the guitarist is twanging away and before you know it he'll run to the drum kit and play equally well while the "drummer" grabs a guitar. It's good to watch as well as hear.

Birdsworth offer a cleaner cut sound of chorus guitars and a far off vocal ambiance lending a sixties psychedelic twinge to a modern indie dream. Syd Barrett's Floyd era meets Stone Roses via Happy Mondays.

Friday night at The Crown and Treaty will be a very entertaining night for music lovers but let me warn you, 'bird' is the only thing these bands have in common. Their sounds are as unique as they are exquisite.
