Friendly Fires have announced their return with a headline London show for 2018.

The indie rock trio will play O2 Brixton Academy on April 5.

They announced the news on social media in a post that says: "It's been a minute, but the time is right for us to come back.

"This show's going to be a profoundly special occasion for us, and we hope for you too. We're looking forward to seeing friends old and new there."

Their hugely anticipated third studio album is due to be released by then following their hints across social media platforms.

They've been asking fans to sign up and talk via social media as well as updating Facebook and Twitter with pictures and videos.

The group's last two albums, released in 2008 and 2011 achieved acclaim and moderate chart success.

A general sale will take place at 9am on Friday September 29.
