Looking for gin heaven? Notting Hill will soon have the answer.
Portobello Road is set to be home to not just a new gin bar, but a gin hotel.
With more than four floors dedicated to drinking the popular spirit, it is sure to be a mecca for gin lovers, and with three guest rooms, there is no need to worry about getting a taxi home after sinking one too many.
But you may struggle to drink the bar dry, as aside from the gins available behind the bar, there is also a 400-litre copper gin still on the premises.
There are two bars, a distillery, a shop, three bedrooms and 'The Ginstitute', which is a gin making experience.
Guests will be able to travel back in time to learn about the history of the spirit and also have a go at concocting their own unique blend of gin.
Those wanting to make a visit may be interested in learning a thing or to about gin and questions can be answered in a dedicated museum which takes its residence in The Distillery, featuring the first-ever English cocktail book.
The first floor is home to a bar which serves not only London spirits, but also those from around the world.
Feeling peckish? The bar will also prepare British dishes from locally sourced ingredients.
Heading up to the second floor, guests can enjoy a Mediterranean style experience with a large range of gins to pick from the menu.
And on the top floor there is a private dining area and of course, the three guest rooms, all of which have been individually designed to reflect the culture of the local area and they also overlook the bustling streets of Portobello Market.
Founder of Portobello Road Gin and The Distillery, Ged Feltham, said it has been an ambitious project and although the doors are not yet open, it appears it is already much in demand.
“We already have bookings for The Distillery from across Europe and even as far afield as South Africa - and the positive response to the project so far has been overwhelming," he said.
He added “The most exciting parts of the project are the new and unexpected opportunities that have come with a development of this size and scale.
"We are proud purveyors of London spirit and we look forward to exciting guests from around the globe with amazing gin and other wonderful new distillates and aged spirits.”
The hotel opens its doors to the public on Friday December 16, but gin lovers are advised to book early to avoid disapointment.
