Londoners are invited to a festive market in North End Road as part of an effort to revive the famous road.

The road in Fulham will be pedestrianised up to Lillie Road for one day only on December 6 for the market which will be filled with dozens of new stalls selling festive presents, hand-made decorations, crafts, jewellery, art and clothes.

As well as the usual fruit and veg stalls they will also be selling hot food, cakes and mulled wine to get you in the holiday mood.

Pedestrianising the road is a one-day trial as part of the council’s pledge to lift the area to make it more attractive to visitors and shoppers after the market, which has been around since the 1880s, has experienced a decline in footfall meaning many independent shops have had to close.

Councillor Ben Coleman, the borough’s Local Business Champion, said: “This one-day trial will create a more vibrant, attractive shopping area packed with stalls on both sides. We hope people will come and get their seasonal shopping off to a cracking start.

“We also want local residents and businesses to tell us afterwards what they thought of the day. What did it show us? Should we do it again?”

North End Road will be closed to traffic and diversions will be in place between Lillie Road and Dawes Road from 6am to 8pm on December 6.

The council would like to hear your views on how the day goes at a public meeting at St John’s Church in Fulham at 7pm on December 10.
