Packing your suitcase to go on holiday but can't fit in your trusty jar of coffee ?

Fear not, for Lyons has launched convenient coffee pouches that easily slip into your luggage, handbag or even your festival rucksack .

Available in three different strength varieties, plus a decaf option, there’s a coffee to suit every mood and taste including No.4 Dark and Intense, No.3 Rich and Full Bodied and No.2 Light and Smooth.

Lyons Coffee Bags are like tea bags but with fresh ground coffee beans, meaning you can avoid instant options and enjoy barista style coffee on the go.

Laura Nightingale tested it out at the office:

Before adding milk

Tried and tested

I picked up a box from Sainsbury's (down the tea and coffee store cupboard aisle) for £2.60.

Each individually foil-wrapped, you get 18 bags in each box.

As soon as I opened the foil wrapper I could tell it was roasted ground coffee inside and not instant granules because there was a strong, fresh aroma to them.

As I do when making a cup of tea, I boiled the kettle and popped the bag in my mug - easy peasy.

The finished product

Taste test

The longer you leave the bag in the cup the stronger your drink will be (just like tea).

Three to four minutes seemed to do the trick and it tasted deliciously rich, gorgeously robust and silky smooth.

After adding a glug of milk and a teaspoon of sugar (I can't help it!) it tasted just like my favourite barista coffee.

You don't need to go on holiday to enjoy Lyons Coffee Bags though, they are great at home or at the office when you're craving a good coffee but can't be bothered to head to the high street.

They are available in most supermarkets including Sainsbury's and Tesco , RRP £2.60 (18 bags, 125g)
